Details of MQ-2 (Methane, LPG)

Sensors 1

MQ-2 (Methane, LPG)

3,500 Rwf
MQ-2 gas sensor is widely used to detect gases like methane (CH₄), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), carbon monoxide (CO), and smoke. It works by sensing changes in the air's gas concentration and providing an analog output. The MQ-2 sensor is especially popular in applications such as safety systems for gas leakage detection, home automation, and environmental monitoring.

Specification

  • Detection Range:

  • Methane: 200 to 10,000 ppm

    LPG: 300 to 10,000 ppm

Carbon Monoxide: 10 to 1,000 ppm

    Smoke: 1 to 1,000 ppm

  • Voltage: 5V (working voltage)

  • Response Time: Typically under 10 seconds

  • Heater Resistance: 31Ω ± 3Ω (with internal heater)

  • Sensor Type: Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS)

Applications

  • Gas Leak Detection: Common in homes, industries, and vehicles to detect harmful gas leaks.

  • Fire Alarm Systems: Can be integrated into smoke detection systems.

  • Air Quality Monitoring: Detects methane or LPG concentrations in closed environments.
